In reply to Angel Winfree. I believe it's the peels that are most dangerous, especially raw. However, to be safe I avoid all potatoes. I'm a little on the cautious side ;)

In reply to Michelle. I don't take the food away, it stays in their run. However, the hens go inside their roost at night and they don't have food or water in there. But it's similar to any animal or even humans: you don't really need to eat or drink because you're mostly sleeping at night. When their door opens in the morning, they can go back out to their food. Otherwise, they would just make a big mess inside their roost.

I never knew that you couldn’t feed chickens potato peels or potatoes. I’ve raised chickens almost all of my life and never knew. Thank you very much for the info. I feel so guilty.

In reply to Nancy Seaman. Celery, yes. The pulp probably isn't very appetizing, since you've taken out all the liquid from juicing. I'd add that to my compost pile instead.
